I have fished bass for many years now and want to start fishing for pike as well. I have caught a pike or two while fishing for bass, and just wondering if I have to do anything differently to specifically fish for pike. Do they prefer deeper water? Bigger lures? Shiny lures?Do they bite in the morning, night? Or do I just keep fishing for bass, but use a steel leader.

Hello you cant catch pike in many ways they are a preditor fish which is why you caught them bass fishing. You can use spinners, most work well big and small i use ones called spoons, large silver and shinney and pull them through the water fast. You can use dead baits on the bottom, herring are a good bait. You can attach a dead bait to the hook and reel it back fast and slow this will often temp a pike to take the bait.

Im no expert but pike are ambush fish and will hide in shallower weed beds waiting to ambush a smaller fish or baby fish that swims by. Try fishing for them when the water warms up a little bit.
Lure wise it just depends on where your fishing. you might need specialized Pike lures but your bass set up might work just as well. Not sure what kind of rod you have but I would make sure its big enough to handle pike. And dont forget the steel leader.

Pike and bass both bite hard. But, i think youll have better luck with a lure for bass, and live bait for the pike. For my pike, i use small panfish and hook there backs and cast out near were i think there might be pike. Usually, i get my fish.
Now for bass, lures. Deffnitly lures. Just keep casting out and bringing in and youll get a big bite by a bass.

Are you sure you dont mean pickerel? If its pickeral keep doing what your doing but fish in more lilly pads and stuff. Pike just use a bigger lure
