Extreme Saltwater Fishing!

WEBSITE: http://blacktiphfishing.org

You may live your life and never see anything like this! The entire Sebastian inlet was filled with pinfish. The tarpon, redfish and snook were so thick you could walk on them. We took a piece of stingray out for shark bait. While Josh was taking photos with the red, the Avet 80 started screaming! Jeff fought the shark and eventually the line broke. Jeff caught a two redfish (only one is shown in this video) and I caught a 44″ redfish. This was an amazing sight to see! Jahorace Epps helped film this video.

SHARK SETUP:

Bait Used — Stingray
Hooks — 18/0 Lindgren Pitman Circle Hook
Leader — 6ft of #19 wire
Swivels — 500lb Rosco Crane Swivel
Reel — Avet 80
Line — 200lb mono topshot with 130lb Diamond Momoi braid backing.
Rod — Custom Barrett Rod

For the redfish we were using live pinfish.

    @ital3nt3d : the ugly stik can handle braid up to 150lb. I’ve even used 200lb mono. I use 150lb braid on my 4/0 for stingrays and jack crevalle around pier pilings.

    @ital3nt3d : I’ve used 150lb braid and 100lb mono with a breaking strength of 130+lbs with it. Trust me, it can handle a big fish no problem and will last for years. very durable

    @ital3nt3d : …
    @ital3nt3d : Blacktiph has several videos posted on how to make a rig. It shows all the steps and materials you will need. just use 10′-15′ of 300lb mono, some heavy barrel swivels about 450lbs, 2-3′ of doubled up 180lb wire and a 12/0 to 16/0 hook

  6. ital3nt3d says:

    @mightymordicai …
    @mightymordicai well the rod can take a line weight of up to 80 lb of mono, so using braided… wouldnt it be even less, since braided is thinner

    @mightymordicai Any good rigs out there that you would happen to have in mind?

  8. mightymordicai says:

    @ital3nt3d: and yeah, you could probably land a shark over 250lbs with 500/80 braid. just make sure your rigs are good. good luck dude

  9. mightymordicai says:

    @ital3nt3d : dont use spiderwire as it will dig into your guides. go with power pro

    I have decided to purchase the following:
    Penn Senator 113L2
    Penn Senator Rod 3195RS
    And i will be spooling the reel with 500 yds/80lb of spiderwire braided line
    Honestly? Can this catch a shark of decent size or no?

  14. mightymordicai says:

    @ital3nt3d : It …
    @ital3nt3d : It really depends on your preference. The problems with the shorter rods is the risk of the line running over a reef or sandbar. Having a little bit longer rod enables you to keep the line a bit higher. I also feel like I have more pulling power and a higher capacity to turn a fish with an 8′ rod. I’ve landed two 7′ lemons and several 6′ black tips with one

  15. BlacktipH says:

    @mightymordicai

    @mightymordicai
    That’s a good rod to use.

  16. ital3nt3d says:

    @mightymordicai …
    @mightymordicai wouldnt a 8ft rod be just a little too long? i understand it can with stand lots of pressure/weight but if it were to be like 6’6″ with the same specs wouldnt it be better/stronger also i am going to be kayaking out the bait so i think shorter would be better

  17. mightymordicai says:

    @ital3nt3d: You can …
    @ital3nt3d: You can get a 30-80lb class 8′ ugly stick for 80$ that will land anything a 6/0 or even a 9/0 can handle. It’s ideal for black tips for a conventional set up I believe

  18. ital3nt3d says:

    @BlacktipH no no :D
    @BlacktipH no no :D im saying im asking just for a rod around 150 dollars. im aware w/one of the senators and a decent rod it should end up around 300 dollars. i just wanted to know if you had any good rods in mind for around $150 or less. keep in mind im going to br using a senator 6 0

    @ital3nt3d
    A 100lb blacktip will destroy a levelwind reel. I have heard of the winder being ripped out of the reel. Any saltwater reel designed for big fish does not have a levelwind.

  23. ital3nt3d says:

    @BlacktipH Alright, …
    @BlacktipH Alright, but i have never used a conventional reel before and i am aware you need to use your fingers as a level wind… so do you know any decent conventional reels with a level wind?
    i just need something that can hold lots of line and has decent drag.
    if there are no decent ones with a level wind im sure i can adapt w/o it.
    thanks
