What is the wire loop above the grip of most fishing rods for?

A place to put your hook when transporting your pole. Alot of people use they eyelet used for the line, but that’s not good for your pole.

So you can secure your hook. Some people use he eyes of the rod but its bad for the pole. It works great with a rod saver. It will cover the hook so know one will get hooked by mistake.

Its was made for your fish hook to go after you are done fishing and transporting your pole somewhere else. People found that as you use the string holes to hook your hook to it would actually bend those rings.

That is called the hook holder/keeper. You use it to hang your hook or swivel on that is attached to your line.
