On the first outing, I was unfortunate enough to hook three large sharks, and as these were the suspected catch, pushed up the drag to sunset and gave it to ‘em. This new rod is Awesome, with the Venom Jig rod and as you can see is loaded up big time. With Full drag and a short sensitive rod, and full bend into the rod but, there is less leverage on the angler, and plenty of hurt on the shark. I was able to crank in three sharks, in no time, so really does show the stopping power. The Shimanoo Talica is a top quality reel and serious drag, up to 22kilos, but can also change drag cams for your desired line class. I was using 80 lb Stren Sonic Braid as we do get some unstoppables at times, This fishing rod and reel combo puts things back in my favour. Highly recommend this outfit for Reef fishing the deep reefs, and also jigging the deeper water.
It’s a great lightweight combo, and can be easily fished all day, makes reef fishing a breeze. Perfect for Targeting big fish in deep water, especially big reds and Nannygai.

Sharks can be a pain, the rod made short work of three of ‘em. Was pretty quiet on that trip for Reds and Nannygai, Caught a heap on our Mothershipping Trip in the deeper water, with some great videos coming soon. but reef edges also quiet, although definately picking up as weather starts to warm up again,

Nice new vid….awesome rod. The sharks have been a pain lately. We fished around 65m out from Cairns on the weekend and 2 out of every 5 nannygai were hit by sharks. However we landed 18 in two hours and 7 trout, things are starting to inprove again.
