Best ways to clean ur fishing rods and reels?

Just want some methods and material that you all would use to clean ur fishing poles.
I usually use wd40 and it seems to work well but i believe theres a better solution for cleaning them?

ok ill give u a tip. dont use wd40 !!! it drives out moisture and will kill the bearings in your reel. after each use take your reel off, and soak it in a bucket of fresh water for 10mins. give it a spin underwater to really clean it out. squirt down your rod and wipe it clean. you should also use special grease to put in your reel to keep the bearings working. you can buy at nearly every tackle store.

dont use wd40 =)

What kind of hook works best for fishing cutbait in saltwater inshore?

I live in and fish in central Florida. I have recently started using Eagle Claw 1/0 circle hooks, but I miss way too many fish. My bait size is about 2in x 2in. If anyone knows of a better hook for fishing this way please let my know.

Try a ‘Kahle’ or ‘Croaker’ style hook, it’s similar to a circle hook but it has a wider gap. They work great for cut, dead or live bait. good luck!

What are the basics I need to buy to wrap fishing rods?

These would be used for saltwater fishing, offshore and surf fishing.

First of all, the parts: the blank, grip, reel seat, butt cap, guides, and tip. Then, the wrapping thread and the coatings — generally color preserver and varnish, small brushes for applying them, small cups for mixing the epoxy coating. Ferrule cement for attaching the tip.

You can wrap rods on your lap — I wrapped a couple dozen that way as a kid. It’s slow and tedious, but if you keep the thread tight it will work just fine. (Keeping the thread tight is very important — otherwise the guides will wiggle under pressure. But I caught plenty of good-sized saltwater fish on lap-wrapped rods, so it’s possible.) But if you can afford (or borrow) a power wrapping machine, you can whip out a finished rod in a hurry. If you’re going to be making a lot of rods, you might look at these.

Either way, wrap a layer of thread for all guides, then give them a couple coats of color preserver, let it dry, then do the next layer. Saltwater rods generally have an underlayer of thread that the guide sits on, then one or two layers (usually different colors) holding it in place.

Once all the thread is on and "color preserved" and dried, mix up the epoxy varnish and put it on. Here is where a rod-turning machine is very useful — on the "drying" setting it will slowly rotate so the varnish will harden smoothly rather than dripping. Otherwise you have to turn the rod a quarter-turn every 2-3 minutes for a couple of hours.

Cornwall Shore Fishing- what is the best way to get the best results using lightish tackle? What to fish for?

I have done a lot of shore fishing in SA. Been in the UK for 5 years and have not fished here at all. I am going on holiday to Cornwall for a few days next week and want to use the opportunity to do some fishing. I know that Mackerel and bass may be an option but I do not know what bait to use, hook size , best spots etc. Would be grateful for any good practical advise?

just buy a cheap beach set up for about £30
